DeiVision of Seniors

 
The Seniors' objective is to provide our senior members opportunities and a platform for spiritual growth, fellowship and lifelong learning experiences. To develop relevant programs that will enhance knowledge, increase visibility of seniors, provide an information network, provide support systems, and provide outlets for physical and recreational needs.

Our Senior Council Committee is comprised of a 12-member team providing input regarding the needs of seniors programmatically. The council also coordinates the Thanksgiving and Christmas service and dinners for the seniors. This Council meets every 1st Thursday of the month.

Monthly Gathering

        Every third Tuesday of the month from 10:30am to 12:30pm.

        Featuring monthly educational topics/speakers and fellowship.


Senior (BYOB) Bible Study Sessions

Why study the Bible?

The Bible is God's roadmap to Heaven, eternal life. It was written with a purpose - to authenticate the Divinity of Christ, to give hope, to provide examples and warnings, to give knowledge of Eternal Life. It is a life-giving and life-changing Book. Read it for yourself. Study it. Love it. Come Alive!


Seniors' Sewing Class

Monday and Friday - 9:00am-11:00am
Cost $1.00 per visit

Brush up on your basic sewing techniques in this class designed for the beginner through advance seamstress. Learn the basic construction and design. Each participant must furnish their materials.


Arts and Crafts

Wednesdays - 9:30am-11:30am
FREE

This class is designed to develop your artistic side! Projects can be used for personal use or as gifts. A variety of crafts will be planned throughout the time period.


Line Dancing

Thursdays
10:00am - beginners
10:30am-11:30am - intermediate

Line dancers dance for mental and physical EXERCISE but also for the pleasure of just having too much FUN with a group of friends. If the MUSIC APPEALS to a wide range of dancers and the line dance PATTERN FLOWS to the tune ...then a dance will find its destiny.

Each session runs for 5 weeks.


Computer Class

Seniors in the Spotlight continue to offer a basic computer class consisting of eight weeks of two-hour sessions. This is a class for beginners ages 55 and over.
  • Students MUST complete outside reading assignments.
  • Extensive lab exercises are used to enhance the learning experience.
  • Students will learn to use word processing, spreadsheets, the Internet, and email.
  • Students will graduate with a personal email account.

All classes are on Mondays from 3:30pm-5:30pm or from 6:00pm-8:00pm.
Classes are free.


Care Team Ministry

Care Team Ministry is practical, friendly help by volunteer members who assist ill, disabled, elderly congregation members on a short or long term basis. Some types of assistance include phone contact and friendly visits, household and yard chores, transportation for shopping and appointments, assistance with shopping, meal preparation, minor home maintenance, reading and respite for family care givers.

The Care Team Ministry meets every 1st Tuesday immediately following Bible Study.

Our Mission Statement:
We will reach out with a Christlike love and spirit to our Senior population and offer them Godly advice, understanding, encouragement, comfort, hope and truth during their times of suffering, grieving, loneliness, and dying.

The Center is opened to all senior citizens (church and community) age 55 and over.
