Christian Education & Discipleship
The African-American Heritage Ministry focuses on enlightening the church and community of the rich and diverse nuances of Africans in the Americas, with undergirding Christian perspective. Many of the activities of the African-American Heritage Ministry take place during Black history month; however, the ministry is moving towards year-round activities and that inform, challenge and grow interest in African-American Heritage with a holistic approach.
The Literary Club Ministry at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church was established in 1988 with the purpose of reading and discussing one book per month. Our special emphasis is reading books by African-American authors and also on topics of spirituality, culture, and empowerment. We also read and discuss other enjoyable topics recommended by our members. This ministry is an opportunity for both growth and fellowship. We meet the 4th Monday of each month – January thru June and September thru November from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm. Please watch the bulletin, monitor and website for the reading list.
