


Seniors in the Spotlight
The Senior’s ministry at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church is dedicated in providing our senior citizen community opportunities and a platform for spiritual growth, fellowship and lifelong learning experiences. We attempt to develop relevant programs that will enhance knowledge, increase visibility of seniors, provide an information network support systems, and outlets for physical and recreational needs.
We offer a variety of recreational organized senior adults-oriented programs.
All trips, programs, activities, workshops and seminars are open to members and to the community aged 55 and over (caregivers are exceptions).

Arts and Crafts is designed to develop your artistic side! Projects can be used for personal use or as gifts. A variety of crafts will be planned throughout the time period. Classes are FREE. You must purchase own material.

Our Care Team Ministry reaches out as a support system to members of our congregation ages 69 and over. We have been blessed by God to have individuals who have committed their time and talents to serve as care giving members to this ministry. Volunteers make phone calls, assist seniors with daily living activities, homebound/nursing home visits, minister to our Senior population at their time of suffering, grieving, loneliness and end of life preparation. Monthly birthday cards are sent to each member 55 and over.
We meet every 4th Tuesday, 12:00p – immediately following Bible Study

The Cardio exercises assist seniors with movement and flexibility while building self-esteem. The majority of each session consist of cardio-related movements to increase strength and improve circulation. The complete exercise program include sitting, standing, and stretching. The goal is to have fun exercising while gaining the benefits of good health. Wheelchair and visually impaired participants are welcome. $5 per class. Silver Sneaker members are free, depending on type of insurance.

Community wide event to encourage our seniors to participate and showcase their talents and fashions.
Whether you’re an absolute beginner to knitting and crocheting, someone who wants to learn new techniques, someone needing guidance in finishing a project, this class is for you. Starting with the basics and go from there! FREE (purchase own supplies).

Love all types of music? Like to dance? Come join the Thursday Morning Line Dance class. Enjoy fun and fellowship while burning calories, improving your flexibility, and helping your heart.

Seniors Health Insurance Information Program, SHIIP, is a program that counsels Medicare beneficiaries and caregivers about Medicare, Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Part D and long term care insurance. SHIIP helps Medicare beneficiaries compare Health Insurance plans to determine if a change is needed. The information is free and unbiased. Review your plan annually. A SHIIP office is now located at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 3301 Beatties Ford Road. To schedule a one-on-one counseling appointment, call 980-314-1320.
