TODAY'S LENTEN DEVOTIONAL

February 18, 2026 – Ash Wednesday
Theme: A Long, Lonely Walk—Yet Not Alone
Today’s Scripture: Psalm 23:1–6

Scripture: “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me… Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.” - Psalm 23:1–6

Thought: Psalm 23 doesn't deny the reality of loneliness or danger. Instead, it promises God’s presence beside us on long, silent roads and shadowed valleys. While loneliness is real, abandonment is not, as the Shepherd carries us toward unseen goodness.

Prayer: Shepherding God, stay close on heavy roads, quiet our fear, and remind us that we never walk alone. Lead us toward goodness, mercy, and rest. Amen.

Positive Practice: Take a short walk today, even if it is just a few steps. With each step whisper, “You are with me.”

Lenten Emphasis - Heart Health for African Americans: Slow, gentle walking supports heart health and reduces stress. Daily movement is sacred care for the body God sustains.

Mission Emphasis - HBCUs: Support HBCUs by praying for students on uncertain paths and offering mentorship or financial support. Your encouragement reminds students that they are not walking alone.
