TODAY'S LENTEN DEVOTIONAL

Date: March 10th
Theme: Don’t Judge a Book by its Cover
Today’s Scripture: Joshua 2:1

Scripture: Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim. “Go, look over the land,” he said, “especially Jericho.” So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there.

Thought: In the text, one learns Rahab’s occupation before learning her name.  Introduced as a prostitute, imagine the presuppositions or assumptions made about her based on what she did and not who she was.

Prayer: Oh God, helps us to patiently get to know people as to who and whose they are, as opposed to what they do.  Help us look past the book covers and read the chapters.

Positive Practice:  Look in the mirror, hug yourself, smile, and say, “Above all things, “I AM A CHILD OF GOD.”

Lenten Emphasis – Nutrition and Healthy Eating:  Drink six to eight glasses of water a day or more if you are heavy into exercise and fitness.

Mission Emphasis Girl Scouts: Please show care and support of our Girl Scouts by offering a word of encouragement, making a financial contribution, or buying Girl Scout cookies.
